Sky has launched Sky Stream – a new device which extends the Sky Glass UI to customers’ existing Smart TVs. Through Sky Stream, customers will have access to both Sky TV and Netflix Basic. The company says the device is the most affordable way for customers to get Sky TV and Netflix together. Customers can navigate content on using the voice remote feature, and the device requires no dish or installation.

Customers can opt for a 31-day rolling plan in which they pay £29 per month, or an 18-month contract in which they pay the equivalent of £26 monthly. Customers can upgrade to the Whole Home pack for an extra £12 a month, giving them five additional Sky Stream devices to use with different TVs in their household.

Sky Stream users can also add additional packs and services to their subscription, such as Sky Cinema (which offers Paramount+ at no extra cost), Sky Sports and BT Sport. The platform also aggregates and offers content from services including Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, BBC iPlayer, YouTube and others. In total, the service will give customers access to over 150 channels and 100,000 hours of aggregated content.

Customers will need a broadband connection with a minimum speed of 10Mbps, and device comes with an installation fee of £39.95.

Sky Stream also includes the Playlist feature which allows customers to create personal playlists from apps and channels (both live and on demand).

The company explains: “When you want to Playlist something, just click the ‘+’ on your remote and it’ll be saved in the cloud for whenever you’re ready to watch.”

Additionally, Sky Stream users can return to the beginning of a show that’s on live TV, using the Restart feature (already a feature of Sky Glass.)

The company says: “Sky Stream is the latest addition to Sky’s TV product family, providing a range of ways to watch amazing content. Sky Glass is the only TV with Sky inside, combining innovative hardware, software and content for the smartest TV experience yet, no dish or box required.

“If you’ve already got a TV you love, Sky Stream connects seamlessly to deliver the fantastic Sky Glass entertainment experience to your existing TV. If you don’t want to stream, there’s the award-winning Sky Q satellite service, which has all your favourite channels and apps in one place, as well as a hard drive for recordings. Sky Go comes as standard with all three services, so you can get the great Sky experience on your devices too.”

The device is available to purchase now from Sky’s website, or a Sky shop or hub.
