EON, the latest video service launched by United Group (a leading telecoms and media provider in South East Europe) across Serbia (with SBB), Slovenia (with Telemach), Bosnia and Herzegovina (with Telemach) and Montenegro (with Telemach) is the first 4K Android TV hybrid deployment in the Balkans. Among other things, it combines 4K coverage of major sports like La Liga and Formula One, seven-day catch-up, a 12,500 title VOD package and access to Google services like YouTube, Google Play Music, Google Play Movies & TV, Google Play Games and apps from the Google Play Store.
United Group is using content protection from NAGRA for the deployment, and more specifically NAGRA’s Conax cardless solution, which is based on the Conax Contego unified security back-end. Victoriya Boklag, CEO and VP Marketing and Media of United Group, says: “In content protection, the ability to support an Android TV deployment including multi-DRM security on all devices was key and NAGRA’s line of Conax solutions perfectly met our requirements.”
Conax Contego is developed for seamless support and integration of all major distribution technologies and formats including UHD/4K, smart cards, cardless, next generation IPTV security, advanced multi-DRM/OTT services and new hybrid network combinations. It is part of the wider NAGRA content protection portfolio.
