The winners of the Videonet Connected TV Awards 2014 were announced on Wednesday at Connected TV World Summit in London. Massive Interactive received the ‘Outstanding Achievement in Connected TV 2014’ award and also won the ‘Connected Technology Hero’ category or its Massivision Multiscreen Development Kit (MDK), which uses a translatable language that compiles applications for web and native platforms, a new approach to ‘write once, run anywhere’ for multiscreen apps development. The Snap OTT service from Sky Deutschland won the ‘Best Connected TV Service Update or Launch’ category, while ‘The Companion & Second Screen Prize’ was won by Virgin Media for its Virgin TV Anywhere app. In the ‘Achievement in Advertising’ category Sky Media, supported by Cisco, won top prize for Sky AdSmart, while Alcatel-Lucent won the ‘Multiscreen Goes Mainstream Award’ with its Cloud DVR solution.

This year there were 85 entries for the awards, with several judges commenting that this was the hardest year yet when it came to deciding the winners. The awards were presented during a ceremony at the end of the first day of Connected TV Summit, which is being held this week. The awards are organized by Videonet and have an independent judging panel of experienced industry consultants, analysts and executives. Justin Lebbon, Conference Director at Connected TV Summit and Publisher of Videonet, notes: “This is the fourth year we have held these awards and we are pleased again to provide a shop window for some of the best innovation in the industry.”
