The shortlists for the Videonet Connected TV Awards 2014 have just been announced and leave Sky Deutschland’s Snap, Com Hem/SeaChange, the BBC iPlayer relaunch and Ziggo’s CI Plus 1.3 based VOD/catch-up TV service fighting for the prize of ‘Best Connected TV Service Update or Launch’. In the new ‘The Multiscreen Goes Mainstream Award’ category, Com Hem’s next-generation TV Experience, TiVo Roamio DVR, Alcatel Lucent’s Cloud DVR and Elemental Cloud from Elemental Technologies are competing for first prize.

In total there were 85 entries in this year’s awards, spread over five categories and the winners will be announced during Day One of Connected TV Summit on June 11 at the Royal College of Physicians in London. This is the fourth year the awards have been running and, with up to 23 entries in one of the categories, they remain fiercely competitive. The awards are robustly independent, with 16 judges working on the entries in 2014. Anyone can be shortlisted or win the awards based purely on merit.

The awards ceremony and networking reception is free to attend for all shortlisted companies (and of course for delegates at Connected TV Summit). The full shortlists are:
