Entertainment company Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) has started trading on the Nasdaq Stockholm, following its split from former parent company Modern Times Group (MTG).
As an independent company, NENT Group now claims to be the leading entertainment provider in the Nordic region, comprising a portfolio of streaming services, TV channels, radio stations and production companies.
“The listing of our shares on Nasdaq reflects our ambition as a standalone company that has constantly challenged and innovated the entertainment industry,” said Anders Jensen, NENT Group President and CEO.
“Today, less than half of the 12 million households in the Nordic region subscribe to a streaming service, and we expect that to rise quickly over the coming years as consumers continue to change the way that they consume content. We have been preparing for this listing for a year now, so I would like to thank everyone who has worked so hard to make it happen.”
NENT Group employs some 2,000 people and is headquartered in Stockholm. Its brands include Viaplay, Viafree, Viasat and Viareal.
