Cisco will be showing its cBR-8 DOCSIS 3.1 / CCAP platform at ANGA COM, a product that delivers throughput of 10 Gigabits per second downstream and 1 Gbps upstream. Yves Padrines, VP, Global Service Provider EMEAR for Cisco, reckons these kinds of speeds are vitally important to support the movement of video that is sourced from smart phones and tablets.

The company will be showing off its work on cable-specific SDN virtualization and orchestration, including SDN capabilities on the cBR8. Operators should benefit from simplified operations and greater service velocity thanks to these concepts. Cisco is also showcasing its V2P (Virtualized Video Processing) solution, which is designed to blend Cisco and third-party applications across cloud environments – increasing velocity, reducing total cost of ownership and transforming CDN economics.

Visitors to Cologne can also see the suite of Cisco Connected Home software applications, geared towards helping service providers and their subscribers gain better visibility, security and reliability in digital homes. The product set includes HomeGuard whole-home cyber-security protection  with Connected Analytics to proactively defend against would-be digital intruders.

Cisco is also demonstrating its Video Quality Monitoring (VQM) solution that continuously monitors the user experience – from signal acquisition to playout and any end device – over any network. The company orchestrated a partnership with best of breed partners Skyline, Mariner and Nimble to build the VQM solution.
