Much thought was given at IBC2013 to what happens ‘Beyond HD’ and here Howard Lukk, VP Production Systems at Walt Disney Studios, gives his views on what could come next, including an improvement on HD thanks to better frame rates and high dynamic range but then of course, Ultra HD. He thinks high dynamic range could be as important as additional pixels in delivering the best UHD experience. Lukk thinks UHD is a natural progression for TV as well as cinema and the eventual successor to HD, given a lot of time.
