HISPASAT Peru – a satellite operator – has chosen Harmonic to power its white-label streaming and direct-to-home broadcast services, which can be branded for operators and offered to their customers without the operator needing a separate infrastructure.
The companies say that Harmonic’s VOS solution simplifies all stages of media processing for the operator’s streaming service (including transcoding, packaging and origin), as well as delivery. This enables them to launch new channels rapidly and with “exceptional reliability”, according to the companies.
Harmonic’s VOS solution has more than 20 statmux pools, as well as transcoding and scrambling capabilities, to ensure efficient satellite broadcast service delivery with “outstanding quality” for HISPASAT Peru’s DTH services. The solution has been integrated with the NAGRA OpenTV Video Platform – which includes content aggregation and management tools, as well as multi-DRM capabilities.
According to Harmonic, this integration provides HISPASAT Peru with provides HISPASAT Peru with “unparalleled agility, resiliency, security and scalability to enable a superior streaming experience”.
