BBC Studios will launch BBC Nordic and BBC Nordic+ – a new linear channel and dedicated on-demand service – in the Nordic region. The public broadcaster studio has said the channel and service is borne out of research into local audiences’ tastes, and will offer programming such as QI, The Graham Norton Show and Life Below Zero. Other shows that will be offered include Louis Theroux Interviews, The Great British Bake Off (season 10) and DIY SOS. Content for the channel/service has been curated around topics such as arts and culture, travel, history, documentaries and music.
BBC Nordic and BBC Nordic+ will be available in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland from 17 April 2023.
Arran Tindall, Senior Vice President Key Markets at BBC Studios, says: “We have delved into Norwegian/Swedish/Danish/Finnish/Icelandic viewing habits and handpicked shows that we know our audiences love with exciting new additions in the entertainment and lifestyle space, broadening our content mix and the opportunity to appeal to a wider and diverse audience. The introduction of BBC Nordic+ will also mean that viewers have one BBC branded destination both on their television and on-demand.”
