Tencent Video selects NetRange to power international expansion of its streaming service

Tencent Video has selected NetRange to power the international expansion of its streaming service WeTV. The agreement will see WeTV reaching new Smart TV and connected device users through the NetRange Smart TV App Store, using a single integration process and therefore “eliminating the need for complex content agreements with individual device brands and manufacturers", according to NetRange.

Tencent Video – a Chinese streaming service – has selected NetRange to power the international expansion of WeTV (the international version of its service). NetRange – a provider of white-labelled turnkey Smart TV and OTT ecosystems – will help the streamer reach new Smart TV and connected device users through its Smart TV App Store. The company says this single integration process “eliminates the need for complex content agreements with individual device brands and manufacturers.”

Michi Uemetsu, CTO of ACCESS CO., LTD (NetRange’s parent company), commented: “Adding WeTV content to the NetRange App Store is a real win-win. With this one agreement, WeTV will be available on millions of devices. We enable consumers to access WeTV on Smart TVs and other connected devices and our device partners get to broaden their content offering, with WeTV’s multi-language offering of entertainment, movies, anime and much more.

“What’s more, we provide a worry-free integration process that takes just a month. We’re delighted that we’ve been able to help Tencent Video reach millions of new viewers for WeTV and look forward to WeTV enjoying explosive growth in Southeast Asia and beyond.”

As part of its offering, WeTV includes a diverse range of TV series, movies, and anime, with exclusive content produced by Tencent Video, as well as local commissioned content. With downloadable content across multiple categories, the streamer achieved over 60 million downloads globally last year. In 2021, WeTV also reached 35 million subscribers on its YouTube channel.
