Samsung has selected BuyDRM – a content security services provider – to provide content security for its FAST service, Samsung TV Plus. BuyDRM believes that by leveraging its Multi-DRM content security platform for video content – KeyOS – the streaming service will be able to “safeguard the distribution of high value video content.”
Other brands who have selected BuyDRM for content security include: ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation), FuboTV, Funimation, Rakuten Viki, Redbox, SBS Belgium, Sinclair Digital, TubiTV and Zee5.
Christopher Levy, CEO & Founder of BuyDRM, said: “Samsung TV Plus has a strong position in the AVOD marketplace with some of the most popular content, which is easily available to stream on consumers’ smart TVs and mobile devices. As the global leader in streaming security for AVOD, BuyDRM is proud to deliver to such a leading global brand the DRM necessary to continue to scale its superior AVOD platform.”
Thierry Souche, CTO at OVHcloud (the parent company of BuyDRM), commented: “BuyDRM and OVHcloud are uniquely positioned to serve the high-availability and scaling needs that Samsung TV Plus requires. With BuyDRM and OVHcloud at the helm, Samsung TV Plus can focus on scaling their reach while ensuring its streaming security.”
Last year, BuyDRM expanded its Key OS platform to include the MultiMark Server, which tracks the illegal distribution of content back to the source through watermarking application. This is combined with consumer DRM encryption ‘just-in-time’ for the users playback session, which – according to the company – affords “the highest level of security” for streaming and downloadable video.
