IBC cancels Amsterdam event due to COVID concerns

Today, IBC announced that it is cancelling IBC2021, the influential annual media, entertainment and technology show that was set to take place in Amsterdam this December. The IBC Partnership Board took the decision to cancel the event in light of exhibitor and visitor concerns around rising cases of COVID-19 in the country.

With 21,974 reported daily cases as of November 20th, the Netherlands is currently experiencing its peak of new infections recorded across the country. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been a total of 2,456,288 infections and 18,995 COVID related deaths.

In 2019, IBC was attended by 56,000 people and exhibited more than 1700 technology suppliers. Having now officially cancelled its in-person event, IBC has said: “Due to take place on December 3-6 at The RAI in Amsterdam, IBC20201 will now focus on bringing the content and technology community together via IBC Digital.
