ZEE UK – a division of South Asian broadcasting and entertainment conglomerate, ZEE Entertainment – announced its willingness to pursue strategic partnerships and co-production opportunities to develop local content in the UK and Europe. At Connected TV World Summit in London this week, Parul Goel, Territory Head, UK, said that ZEE UK intends to scale up production and target younger audiences across wider platforms.
ZEE Entertainment currently produces a majority percentage of its own content, with programming distributed on 48 linear channels in India, as well as more than 35 localised linear channels in international markets. Its South Asian streaming service ZEE5 (which is currently available in the UK and across European markets) aggregates 130,000+ hours of on-demand content in 18 languages, as well as 45 live channels.
ZEE UK said: “It’s a great move by Zee UK/ Europe to invest locally and form long-term strategic alliances in content going forward.”
So far the company’s Middle East division has completed two large co-production projects (with series consisting of 60 and 66 episodes) for the Egyptian market.
