TalkTalk has launched an Android TV powered TV Hub for its Full Fibre package customers, which includes over 70 live TV channels and a range of streaming services including Netflix, Prime Video and Now TV. The TV Hub will also offer catch-up services such as BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub, as well as Google Play (which has over 10,000 apps.)

Customers will be able to use Google Assistant with the TV Hub, using their voice to search for content across the platform. The virtual assistant will also allow them to control the lights or other smart home devices “to create the perfect viewing environment.” The box supports Ultra HD 4K viewing and has Chromecast built-in, enabling viewers to cast movies, apps and games directly to their TVs from other devices.

The TV Hub will cost TalkTalk customer £5 a month, or a £25 one-off fee. The telco plans to roll out the new box to more customers over the coming months.

The TalkTalk TV Hub is Dolby Atmos sound compatible. With Chromecast built in, customers can cast movies, apps, games, and more directly to their TV from phones, tablets, or laptops.

Susie Buckridge, General Manager of Product and Strategy at TalkTalk says: “We know the world of TV can be confusing, which is why we’re helping to keep everything simple for our customers. We’re giving them access to the best in TV entertainment, with an interface that makes it easy to find their favourite shows, whether live or on-demand, without any complicated commitments. Plus, they have the freedom to personalise our TV service by adding their favourite Apps from Google Play Store. This is all wrapped up in our brilliant new TV Hub, for just £5 a month.”
