Having announced the latest additions to its video delivery portfolio (the Electra X advanced media processor family and the Spectrum X advanced media server system), Harmonic has now revealed how these and other innovations are to feature on its IBC stand. Key demonstrations will include :
• A fully-automated, virtualised IP workflow for content origination and multiscreen deliver, powered by its VOS technology and featuring the Electra XVM virtualized media processor.
• A complete UHD-capable channel-in-a-box system with Polaris playout management, including real-time encoding of UHD 2160p60 video, powered by the software-based Electra X3 advanced media processor, and UHD playout featuring real-time graphics and branding from its Spectrum X media server
• Real-time HEVC encoding with High Dynamic Range (HDR) using Dolby Vision’s imaging technology, integrated with the Electra X2 media processor.
• Real-time Variable Bit-Rate (VBR) HEVC encoding and statistical multiplexing of progressive and interlaced HD content using the Electra X2 processor’s software-based Harmonic PURE Compression Engine and its Emmy award-winning DiviTrackIP statmux-over-IP technology.
• Compressed IP output on the Spectrum X media server of fully branded SD and HD channels using AVC compression at ‘mezzanine’ rates, demonstrating how broadcasters can smoothly manage the transition from SDI to IP architectures.
• “Pristine†10-bit AVC HD contribution encoding, featuring broadcast-quality video transport over the Internet using the Ellipse 3000 contribution encoder and ProView 8100 integrated receiver-decoder.
Meanwhile, Harmonic has also announced that its new Spectrum X and Electra X products will support the SMPTE ST 2022-6 standard. This is the first standard to enable products from different manufacturers to send and receive high-bit-rate video signals over IP networks.
