Security firm Conax, part of the Kudelski Group, has been chosen by Argentina’s third-largest cable TV operator, Supercanal, to secure the launch of its new advanced pay-TV platform offering.

Supercanal will be deploying a platform based around Conax’s Contego security hub, led by integrator BOLD MSS. The pre-integrated, end-to-end solution, which includes middleware from Cubiware, will allow Supercanal to expand its existing cable network and securely transition to digital, introducing hybrid STBs enabling VOD and other OTT services. The new platform will include the distribution of secure live, on-demand and OTT services across multiscreen devices. Implementation is due to begin this month (September).

Conax says that by using its modular approach, Supercanal will be able to tailor the Contego security hub to adapt to its evolving needs, adding additional advanced features and capacity as its markets evolve and business grows.
Supercanal currently offers Pay TV, digital TV, Internet, phone and value-added services to residential customers and small and large businesses across Argentina.

Conax’s IBC stand will feature demonstrations of its Contego unified security hub, and the company will also reveal details of how this can be enhanced through the addition of its new secure watermarking product. It will also give details of its new cardless, next-generation security solution for 4K-compatible IPTV as well as a new security solution for Android TV.
