French pay-TV middleware provider Wyplay will aim to show how it is expanding the scope of its product offering at IBC 2015, showcasing two new products, the Frog Turnkey solution and Frog for Android.
Announced in June, Frog Turnkey re-uses and extends Frog’s core components to pack all the features required for traditional linear broadcast TV consumption and IP-delivered on-demand content into an integrated package that includes backend components, delivers a modern-day user experience, and comes bundled with hardware from STB vendors who are members of the Frog Community.
The Frog Turnkey product will be demonstrated by four set-top-box manufacturers shortly to be announced, as well as on Broadcom’s and STMicroelectronics’ exhibition stands.
For pay TV operators seeking an Android-based platform, Wyplay will be demonstrating how it has integrated its core Frog secure TV player stack with Android TV’s Lollipop OS.
There are now more than 95 Frog licensees, says the company, whose Frog by Wyplay platform supported three major new deployments in 2015:
• Sky Italia’s HD TV decoder and backend platform for Telecom Italia subscribers
• Canal+ Group’s new ‘CubeS’ hybrid Internet and DTT set-top-box; and
• Belgacom Proximus’s TV roll-out of Netflix across its installed base
Frog by Wyplay claims to be the first independent open-source software solution for pay-TV operators, and brings together a growing eco-system of more than 95 companies, five of whom will be co-exhibiting with Wyplay at IBC: Craftwork, Mathembedded, Skardin, V-Nova and Wildmoka.
