It looks like network PVR is going to become a major addition to multi-screen services in the next couple of years, whether content is stored once or multiple times to meet different legal requirements. Julien Signes, CEO at Envivio, is confident there are no technical hurdles to deployment although there may be new challenges in terms of how content is stored and processed. Separately, he predicts that the arrival of MPEG-DASH will expand the number of formats needed for all multi-screen services, although in the long-term it could help rationalise the market.
