Virtual private cloud, the latest offering in our growing networking portfolio, is now in general availability for customers use. VPC is an important first step in a delivering a more robust networking experience and broader product vision that enables customers to build, connect, and scale applications with Akamai Cloud Computing.

With this release, you can now customize a private network to allow access to application resources within a virtual private cloud. VPC joins our other free platform features like Cloud Firewall, advanced DDoS Protection, and DNS management to get the most out of your cloud resources.

What does this mean?

Our VPC functionality is ready to use for production workloads in many popular core compute regions, with plans to expand service availability across out global footprint.

What do I need to do if I’m a VPC beta user?

Absolutely nothing. You’ll notice the “beta” tag removed from the label on the side menu in Cloud Manager but your VMs and existing VPC configurations will carry over without issue.

Is there a cost associated with VPC now?

No, our VPC is available at no additional cost, but any resources within the VPC are billed at our standard rate.

What regions are VPC available?

VPCs are available in a majority of our core compute regions (check our VPC documentation for a full list).
