Sports-media technology company, Deltatre, has appointed former Verizon Digital Media Services executive Bhavesh Upadhyaya as its Vice-President of Online Operations in the Americas.

Upadhyaya will oversee the delivery of client projects in the US and Canada and will be based in LA, overseeing a 50-person digital team split across Deltatre’s three US offices.

He will also work alongside Deltatre’s President of Americas, Andrea Marini, in growing the company’s Latin America business – a key focus for Deltatre in the second half of 2019.

The hire follows a period of growth for the Americas division of Deltatre, which has won several sport contracts for OTT and owned-and-operated video services since it opened its regional office in LA in June 2017.

“Bhavesh is a seasoned veteran of the industry. He’s a natural problem solver and team leader, and his track record in the technical delivery of sports services is second to none. Bhavesh is precisely what we need as Deltatre’s Americas business continues through a period of substantial growth,” said Marini.

Upadhyaya said: “I’ve worked with Deltatre on many projects over the years, including the Beijing and Vancouver Olympics. As OTT changes the content delivery game in sport, I’m excited to be part of a company that’s driving innovation and the future of this technology for many of the biggest names in the business.”

Bhavesh was previously Verizon Digital Media Services’ Vice-President of Professional Services and has led the technical and professional services teams that managed global distribution for sporting events including four Olympic Games and the first Super Bowl that was streamed online.

Deltatre offers OTT services, digital and social media applications, content production and data and broadcast services to clients that include UEFA, FIFA, ATP World Tour, NFL, European Tour, IAAF, BBC Sport, Discovery/Eurosport, and Juventus FC.
