Tivù, the company that provides tivùsat, the Italian free-to-air satellite platform, has extended its technology partnership with NAGRA to include cardless security solutions – a move that supports the addition of the DAZN Live Sport channel, Zona DAZN, as a satellite feed. The new cardless solution will now supplement existing NAGRA smartcard solutions deployed at tivùsat. DAZN subscribers can activate the satellite channel on a Tivù set-top box or conditional access module (CAM) (plugged into television sets), with satellite distribution expected to boost QoS and service reach.

Sky Media, the advertising sales arm of Sky, has announced a new Search Behaviour targeting capability for the AdSmart addressable TV platform. This means advertisers can target audiences who are in-market and actively searching for products and services, whether they are just starting their research or adding items to an online basket. This interest and intent information is then used to deliver relevant ads to the households in question, in either live or on-demand content. AdSmart is used within Sky, Virgin Media and Now (the Pay-lite streamer owned by Sky) homes.
DAZN sports, including leading European football, lands on free streamer Pluto TV
Five channels from the leading sports streamer and broadcaster DAZN will appear on Pluto TV (the free streaming TV service) across multiple territories after the companies signed a distribution deal. Channels dedicated to men’s football, darts and fight events will appear in Germany and Austria, and a channel devoted to women’s football and another covering multiple women’s sports (including golf, as well as football) will be distributed in Europe and Latin America.

Sharp is going to launch Smart TVs ‘Powered by TiVo’ (meaning the TiVo OS will provide the UX and content discovery heart of the connected television experience) as part of a multi-year, multi-million-unit agreement. The first ‘Powered by TiVo’ television sets are expected to ship in 2024, starting in Europe. The two companies say the new OS will “help consumers cut through the clutter of streaming and linear content options with a simplified, universal discovery – delivering a user experience that drives TV demand and viewership.”

Virgin Media, the UK telecoms and Pay TV provider, has introduced a line-up of themed FAST channels on Virgin TV, fully integrated into the EPG and available across a variety of CPE devices already in the field. An initial selection of 14 channels have been rolled-out to Virgin Media's V6, TV 360, and Stream set-top boxes running the RDK and Opera operating systems. Consumers benefit from an extended range of content, which is monetised through advertising.
