CommScope and Kaltura have announced a global partnership to help service providers and media owners to migrate from legacy on-premise TV platform solutions to large-scale cloud TV services. The integrated solution, which leverages Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud capabilities, combines technology and talent. Joint commercial and technical teams will be formed for projects.
Kaltura specialises in helping service providers migrate from legacy solutions to cloud-based TV platforms and will provide its TV content management platform and other cloud solutions in the joint initiative. CommScope can provide video processing, targeted advertising, digital rights management products, set-top boxes, streamers, smart media devices and its Personal Channels engine for deployments.
CommScope also brings its SI experience from some of the world’s largest operators, and its Professional Services team will provide consulting, project management, systems integration, and custom software development to implement the joint solutions in operator networks.
The two companies have created reference architectures comprising their own and third-party system components to enable seamless interoperability.
“Together, we will offer operators a fast and reliable path to delivering the next generation of advanced cloud TV services,” the two companies say in a statement. “The partnership covers planning, delivery, deployment and implementation, and ongoing growth.”
Kevin Keefe, Senior Vice President and Segment Leader, Broadband Networks, at CommScope, says, “This partnership combines the best of our complementary leadership in cloud and video delivery. Our on-premises and cloud-based software-defined solutions will help our customers make customised and seamless transitions to becoming cloud TV providers.
“Part of bringing CommScope and Kaltura together means bringing people together. We are creating virtual joint teams, both commercial and technical, to help make our combined experience and know-how readily available to our customers and prospective customers worldwide.”
Gideon Gilboa, Executive Vice President of Product, Marketing and Solutions at Kaltura, adds: “Kaltura was one of the first vendors to launch a global cloud TV platform on AWS, which is currently powering leading telco and media brands. Working on AWS allows us to serve tens of millions of monthly active cloud TV users on a single platform.”
