Securing content, optimising monetisation and improving consumer satisfaction across pay-TV will be some of the themes highlighted by NAGRA at IBC this year.

Showcasing its latest technologies, the content security and multiscreen TV solutions provider will focus on four key areas: scalable service protection; anti-piracy services and forensic watermarking; engaging consumers in the OTT era; and ‘business performance redefined’.

On the service protection front, the company will present offerings including its software-as-a-service security platform, NAGRA cloud.SSP; its unified broadband and broadcast security client, NAGRA Connect; and its Conax Contego security platform.

It will also showcase its Internet of Things security offering for operators, NAGRA HomeScout, and its TVkey Cloud product, which lets service providers offer their own branded services on smart TVs without additional hardware.

Watermarking and anti-piracy services are a key part of the NAGRA’s Scalable Service Protection offering and are designed to stop piracy at source by marking content and by disrupting or blocking access to pirate services.

In terms of engaging consumers, NAGRA’s latest Open TV Suite features will highlight how operators can deliver a “super-aggregated viewing experience” for a variety of device ecosystems, including Android TV.

The company will also demo its data and AI-driven pay TV platform, NAGRA Insight, to illustrate the theme of ‘business performance redefined’. NAGRA Insight predicts TV viewer behaviour, like whether a person is likely to watch a specific programme, buy a package of content or cancel their pay TV subscription.

“The global pay-TV industry is undergoing a significant transformation, and the time for smart aggregation, monetisation and service protection is now,” said Ivan Verbesselt, NAGRA’s Senior Vice President of Marketing.

“Now more than ever, success depends on the ability to anticipate the market’s rapidly changing conditions and embracing a new aggregation model that combines the best of pay-TV with the best of streaming.”
